Things I do to Feel My Best
With your daily tasks like work, school, internships, gym, cleaning, family, and even more, it is important to take the time to recharge and find things that you like to do. But what if you have no idea how to recharge and feel your best? I have recently formed a pretty good list of things I find myself doing to feel my best that drastically change how my days go when I use them in combination.
One important thing to note is while trying to feel and be your best is amazing, bring these new things into your life at a good pace and give yourself grace. If you decide that you are going to start waking up at 6am every day, going to the gym twice a day, and eating no sugar and try to do all of those things in one day, it is likely that you will burn yourself out and be right back where you started. Slowly bring new habits into your life and don’t feel guilty if you don’t do them every day!
With all of that being said, here are the things that I love doing to make myself feel my absolute BEST!
Waking up from 5:00-6:00am
Desiring to wake up this early may sound crazy, but when I wake up this early I feel productive throughout my entire day. When I am able to get my lift in and leave the gym while it is still dark out, I instantly get happy.
Eating produce with every meal
I love eating salads, a bowl of fruit, or a simple side of veggies with every meal. No matter what it is, having clean and fresh produce constantly during my day not only helps my digestion, but allows for me to maintain my energy and feel healthy throughout the day.
Getting ahead on school and work
One thing about me is I love working ahead. I like to get everything possible checked off my checklist a week in advance so that I am not stressed with deadlines during the week, but am able to work at my own pace and freely move my schedule around without being worried that I need to stay in all night finishing a project I procrastinated.
Maintaining a clean space
Having a clean space allows for you to have a clean mind! Having the schedule of doing a ten minute clean up every night and cleaning the common area and floors every other day gives me the ability to constantly live in a clean space without feeling cluttered. This also limits me from having to take time out of my days to have to spend hours cleaning because I didn’t keep up with it over the week.
Ice rolling in the morning
I have been loving my ice roller in the mornings! Whether I use it to help me wake up or de-puff my face, doing it instantly makes me feel productive and happier!
Staying out of my bedroom
Now I love my room and how cozy I have made it, but I set a rule with myself that I only want to be in it during the day if I am in a meeting, cleaning, or working at my desk. If I allow myself to sit in bed on my phone or watching TV, I end up feeling gross. However, if I want to watch TV or go on my phone I will sit on the couch or at the counter in the living room and (for some reason) it makes me feel like I am a lot more productive than I am!
Being in the sun
The sun gives you natural endorphins, so it is no surprise that being in the sun helps me feel like my best self! With all the recent sunny days, I try to spend at least an hour every day sitting outside working or reading!
Being in community
While it is no doubt that I love spending time with myself, finding a good community and truly investing time in it is so rewarding and something I am so grateful to do. Whether this is a solid group of friends that you love or a group from church, investing into a community that values you just as much as you value them truly helps you to feel your best and definitely helps me!
Of course the things that make you feel the best are custom to you, and won’t exactly be what makes me feel my best, but I hope this served as inspiration to you to find the things that you are passionate about and bring you joy, truly making you feel like your best self! You deserve to live in constant joy!
